About Elementary

Los Altos Christian Schools promote an academic climate designed to challenge the average to above-average learner. Our students matriculate to college prep programs, both private and public, throughout the Bay Area.

From the Principal, Susan Goff:

The primary focus at LACS is student learning. Student learning is divided into three equally-important areas:  spiritual, relational and academic. Our main goal, as a Christian school, is for our students to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and to become lifelong followers of Him. Weekly chapels, Bible classes, and an integrated Christian world view in all subjects develop spiritual learning.

Along with building a relationship with the Lord, students need to understand how to build strong relationships within their families, their peers, and their community. LACS has a strong family community that encourages students, parents and teachers to be partners in the learning process. We have a conflict resolution program taught to all students so they learn to handle difficulties proactively.  We encourage parent involvement in the classrooms and school-wide events, as well as providing opportunities for parent learning, discussions, and support.  LACS also participates in many community service projects teaching the students to care for others in both the local and global communities.

Academics are always a major focus for a school and LACS excels in this area. Students are taught with a multi-sensory approach ensuring that students learn in the area of their strengths. They learn to think critically and problem solve so they are ready for the complexities of high school. This school year the staff will be concentrating on executive functioning skills, which help students set goals, organize work, and plan steps to achieve success.  LACS students are taught to be leaders of their own lives so that they do not just follow the current trends or their peers but they are given the tools to make good decisions based on Biblical understanding.
